EVALUATION OF SAFE DOSE, ANTI-DIABETIC ACTIVITY, TOXICOLOGICAL ACTIVITY, & STANDARIZATION OF DIFFERENT EXTRACTS OF Hydnocarpus wightiana (TUVARAKA) SEED, & PREPARED TUVARAKA TAILA

ABSTRACT

Tuvarak Taila is a classical preparation, cited in Susruta Samhita-Chikitsha Sthana. The use in Diabetes is one of many use of that holy preparation. In this current study we are going to perform the Anti-Diabetic activity of Tuvaraka Taila by Pre-Clinical, Clinical & Toxicological study accordingly to establish the safe usage of that product on human as medicine of Diabetes. Here also we are going to perform different laboratory experiments on that, viz. Phytochemical Screening, Thin Layer Chromatographic study, Qualitative & Quantitative Analysis, Microbiological Assay, Limit test for Heavy Metals, Test for Aflatoxin to standardized the test sample. It is said in classical texts that besides Anti-Diabetic activity, this Taila also useful in Leprosy, & if apply externally it can cure certain types of Skin disorders. Now by performing all those experiments we are going to establish the exact safe dose, & its effect on Diabetes referred in classical texts.

Thin Layer Chromatographic study of three different extract of Calendula Officinalis leaves

ABSTRACT

Calendula officinalis is a plant that possess many pharmacological actions like Stomach upset, Ulcer, Menstrual Period Problems, Eye Infections, Inflammation, Wound Healing, Anti-Septic etc. most widely it is used as wound healing purposes. If the leaf of that plant can be applied after crunching at the affected area, blood will be clot within a few time. But while this leaf can perform this action, it means it possess some active compound in it. To find out what the actual component it is, first we have to perform the Thin Layer Chromatographic study. In our present study we are going study the TLC profile of that Calendula officinalis leaf.

ROLE OF MEDICINAL PLANTS IN NON-THERAPEUTIC PURPOSES IN AYURVEDA: A SHORT REVIEW

On a psychological level we naturally try to harmonies these problems but if we are not able to it can lead to a mental disorders. The causes are many but often stem from our own way of looking at things and the inability or unwillingness of our mind to process what is happening. Sometimes we just don’t want to let go of a belief or viewpoint. At other times we might be attached to a result and when something comes to challenge this, as life tends to do, we find our mind under stress in trying to work through the issue. On an unconscious level the mind may know what to do but at a conscious level the mind wants to do something else creating a conflict between the inner and outer, or the personality and the soul. The result often manifests as a Mental Disorder or sickness.

Prothrombin time test, Phytochemical screening, Thin layer chromatographic study and Quantitative study of Calendula officinalis leaves

ABSTRACT

Calendula officinalis is a plant that possess many pharmacological actions like Stomach upset, Ulcers, Menstural problems, Eye infections, Inflamations, Wound healing, Antiseptics, most widely it is used as if the leaves of that plant rubes on the affected part where the bleeding occurs, it reliefes from pain & immediately stop bleeding. In our current study, we first tried to evaluate out the active ingredients present in that leave that responsible for this action by the help of some phytochemical screening & Thin Layer Chromatographic study. Then we made 2 different extracts of that leave, first with Butanol & the other in water. Then we perform the Prothrombin Time (PT) Test of these two extracts by the help of brain tissue thromboplastin as standard. And after that we also perform the quantitative study on these two extracts of that leave. In the result of PT test we found that when we treated butanol extract with citrated plasma, the coagulation occurs at 4 min 10 sec. when water extract treated with citrated plasma the coagulation occurs at 1 min. & when we treated water extract & citrated plasma with CaCl2 the coagulation occurs at 2 min. After that when we treated the water extract & citrated plasma with brain tissue thromboplastin the coagulation occurs at 20 sec. & then Butanol extract & citrated plasma with brain tissue thromboplastin the coagulation occurs at 2 min. So after performing this study we can come to a conclusion that the water extract of the Calendula officinalis leaves has the more coagulating activity.
